Diabetes Management & Supplies, the
largest supplier of diabetes products in Louisiana,
announces the opening of their new Gaspar J. “Buddy”
Stall Diabetes Learning Center at #10 Commerce Ct. in
Harahan. The acoustically sound amphitheater seats 90
people and has an adjacent reception area and kitchen.
“Our new facility now gives us the ability to expand our
educational efforts especially for our Medicare and
Medicaid participants”, said Cynthia Pazos, President of
Diabetes Management and Supplies, adding, “We want to do
the best we can to help improve the quality of life for
our customers and the auditorium is the perfect venue.
We now have a place to hold everything from continuing
education seminars and pump support group meetings to
exercise and cooking classes on a regular basis, free to
the public.” DMS has even hired additional personnel,
including a Diabetes Education Coordinator, to
orchestrate these expanded efforts. “It’s not good
enough that customers receive the right supplies on
time”, stresses Pazos, “It’s also important that each
person knows how to use their supplies along with doing
all the other things necessary to stay healthy.
Education is key.” |

In June of 2005, Diabetes Management &
Supplies dedicated the diabetes learning center in honor
of Mr. Gaspar J. “Buddy” Stall, a local advocate and
supporter of diabetes research and a founding member of
the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. The ceremony was
attended by U.S. Congressman Bobby Jindal and Jefferson
Parish Councilman Elton Lagasse as well as many other
health care professionals from the greater New Orleans
area. Mr. Stall was also presented with a proclamation
from Jefferson parish for his lifetime of service to the
community. “We couldn’t think of a better way to honor a
man who has done so much to help people with diabetes
here New Orleans”, said Ms. Pazos, “The goal of the
learning center is to inform, instruct and encourage
people as to how to take control of their diabetes so
that they may live a full and satisfying life, and
that’s what Buddy’s done for the last Fifty years.”
Now in its 11th year, DMS is a locally owned and
operated company, which has built its success on
providing reliable one on one service to its many
thousands of customers. Cynthia Pazos is a veteran of
the medical supply industry and has been instrumental in
providing Medicare recipients with cost savings, free
home delivery and free glucose meters. “15% of our new
customers are referrals from satisfied customers and
that means a lot”, says Pazos smiling, “Each customer is
unique to us. We make sure they get their supplies
delivered on time, know how to use them and comply with
their doctor’s orders. We’re not some long distance
company. We’re from here and if you need us you can come
see us, we’re here to help and our learning center is
another part of our ongoing service to the community.” |
